Why it is behind a button

An address printed on a page is read by more machines than people. Programs walk the web looking for the shape of an address and for links that begin with mailto, and what they find is sold. So this page contains neither. There is no address in the file you downloaded and no mail link in it either, only a string of characters that becomes an address inside your browser at the moment you press the button.

It is not unbreakable and we are not claiming it is. It costs a determined person a minute and it costs a harvester the whole architecture it was built on, which is the trade we wanted.

What to write about

Your data

Coming off the waitlist, a copy of what we hold, or having it deleted. No reason needed and no form to fill in. What we hold is set out in the privacy policy.

A rights claim or a correction

If you hold a right in something you have found here, or a date or an attribution is wrong, this is the route. What to include is in section 8 of rights and credits.

Something broken, or something insecure

Tell us before you tell anybody else, and we will not come after you for it.

Press, museums, and people who want to write

Also here. There is no separate address, because there is no separate department.

When is it out

The honest answer is on the front page, and the waitlist will tell you before we tell anyone else.

What happens next

A person reads it. Arted is small enough that this is a description rather than a promise about culture, and it will stop being true the day it stops being true, at which point this paragraph changes.

Requests about your own data are answered within thirty days and usually within a few. Everything else is answered when we get to it.
